IRIS Chief Executive awarded new IT prize by ICAEW
The ICAEW has awarded its new IT Faculty prize to Martin Leuw, Chief Executive Officer of IRIS Group and a member of the faculty. He was presented with his prize at the Sift Software Satisfaction Awards Evening at the Royal Courts of Justice in London by Chairman of the Faculty, John Oates.
The IT Faculty prize has been introduced to recognise the individual who is thought to have made the most significant contribution towards best practice in the application of IT to business and accountancy. The judging panel comprised of five people, including the Chairman and Head of the IT Faculty, the Chief Executive Officer of Sift Plc and former ICAEW President, Paul Druckman.
In the opinion of the judges, Martin was awarded the prize based on his reputation in the industry and his known achievements. He has built up the IRIS Software Group into one of the largest private software organisations in the UK, whose solutions benefit their clients in many different market sectors.
Martin has a BSc (Hons) in Management Science from Manchester University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen. He has previously been named Entrepreneur Of The Year in the Technology and Communication category in the Southern regional final of Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur Of The Year programme.
Speaking of the new award, John Oates, Chairman of the IT Faculty and Baker Tilly IT Advisory Partner, said: “We are delighted to present our inaugural IT Faculty prize to Martin, who was an outstanding candidate. The IT Faculty exists to help accountants make better use of IT; throughout his business life Martin has been helping his clients and customers transform theirs, and is a wonderful ambassador for the business benefits that IT can bring”.
Commenting on his award, Martin added: “IRIS was founded thirty years ago with the intention of helping accountancy practices use technology to deliver better value and service to their clients by becoming more efficient and effectively managed. The technology has developed and is now easier for smaller practices to access, and the latest Open IRIS10 solution encompasses ideas and capabilities we only dreamed of when we sold our first systems. I am therefore delighted to accept this award in recognition of everything we have so far achieved with IRIS, and the great strides towards efficiency, effectiveness and value that it helps our customers deliver to their clients.”
