ICAEW’s membership was announced yesterday (Wednesday 25 September) at Climate Week NYC.
The Sustainable Finance Education Charter, of which ICAEW is a member, has also joined the GCBC. The Charter is the UK’s main policy mechanism to improve skills and expertise to support the delivery of green and sustainable finance policies.
The GCBC, which was launched in December 2023 at COP28, provides a platform for some of the world’s leading climate finance organisations to collaborate on aiding financial institutions, particularly in emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs), with the transition to more sustainable and resilient economies.
It brings together a wide range of voices in sustainable finance capacity building to collaborate on extending and enhancing support for EMDEs.
Richard Spencer, ICAEW Sustainability Director and Chair of the Sustainable Finance Education Charter, said:
“I am delighted that both ICAEW and the Sustainable Finance Education Charter have become members of the Global Capacity Building Coalition, to help bring sustainable finance into the mainstream and enable a world of sustainable economies.
“We look forward to working with GCBC members to support financial institutions in emerging markets and developing economies to achieve prosperity as they transition towards net zero.”
