Jonathan's dedication to the profession was considerable. Over his lifetime, he made significant contributions not only to ICAEW but also to the financial sector and the wider business community. His leadership, insight, and unwavering commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of working with him.
Jonathan was the first chair of ICAEW's Financial Services Advisory Board, a role he held from 2007 until the group's conclusion in 2015. His leadership guided the Advisory Board through challenging times, addressing critical issues for our members, including the effectiveness of regulatory and accounting frameworks in the aftermath of the financial crisis.
Jonathan was more than just a member of our organisation, he was pioneer whose ability to bring together high-profile representatives from the City, including the regulator, Members of Parliament, and senior business leaders, demonstrated his commitment to fostering collaboration across the sector under the ICAEW banner. Drawing on his extensive experience, Jonathan reinforced the importance of strong governance and strategic direction, ensuring the Board’s work aligned with the Institute’s public interest role. His influence extended far beyond the boardroom, and he will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Jonathan’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
