ICAEW discusses profession with leading MPs
ICAEW hosted a dinner with key parliamentarians from across the political spectrum on Tuesday 30 April.
As part of ICAEW’s ongoing work to inform and contribute to the public debate, Michael Izza, Chief Executive of ICAEW, and Paul Aplin, ICAEW President, hosted a dinner with Members of Parliament to discuss the future challenges facing the profession. Iain Wright, Director for Business and Industrial Strategy, and Anita Monteith, Technical Lead & Senior Policy Adviser in ICAEW’s Tax Faculty, also attended the dinner.
ICAEW were joined by Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP, Chair of the Treasury Select Committee, Anneliese Dodds MP, Labour Treasury Spokesperson, and Kirsty Blackman MP, SNP Economy Spokesperson. Also present were ICAEW members Nigel Mills MP, member of the Work and Pensions Committee, Jeremy Lefroy MP, member of the Exiting the European Union Committee, and Craig Mackinlay MP, member of the Exiting the European Union Committee.
Dinner discussion covered the proposed reforms to the audit sector from the Kingman and CMA reviews, the work which ICAEW are leading on around the Professional and Business Services Sector Deal, the introduction of Making Tax Digital for VAT and the consultation on proposed off-payroll changes for the private sector.
