Michael is originally from Manchester and happily moved to Toronto, Canada at the end of 2000. He qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and Licensed Insolvency Practitioner in the UK before requalifying as a Canadian Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT) upon emigrating. He has practiced insolvency work and assisted thousands of small and owner managed businesses for more than 3 decades, and founded Baigel Corporation, a boutique financial advisory and insolvency firm, in 2017. Prior to that, he worked at Deloitte, BDO, Begbies Traynor and was the Practice Leader of a small business restructuring team at a Canadian national insolvency practice.
Michael is also a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional (CIRP), Canada, and has presented on insolvency and restructuring issues to various international professional associations.
In addition to being a member of ICAEW Members and Commercial Board and ICAEW Council as a representative for Canada, he currently volunteers for local charities and associations, and is a member of the Canadian Ski Patrol and is a keen travelling Manchester United fan
