Upcoming events in the North WestI’m Carol McLachlan, former president of the Liverpool Society and now president of the Liverpool Chartered Accountants’ Student Association. I am also one of two elected representatives for our region and sit on ICAEW Council, the governing body of our institute. I’m a 20-year veteran of Big 4 audit and I now work with firms and accountants of all shapes and sizes on professional development. A warm welcome to all our new and continuing students!
I have been Chair of LCASA since October 2019 and found it was an excellent way to meet likeminded students from a range of firms across the area. My role involves chairing the committee meetings and overseeing our events calendar. I am also a member of the ICAEW Student Council. We meet to discuss all current affairs affecting ACA students, share event ideas, and are often the first to hear about and provide feedback on any changes ICAEW are considering."
I began working at a large regional accountancy firm in Liverpool during Summer 2014 as a school leaver, and I found networking events to be a great opportunity to meet people like me from other firms to expand my network. Since October 2019 I have been the Vice Chair of LCASA, and this gives me the chance to help bring students from across the region together to socialise and support each other. I am currently an Assistant Manager at Grant Thornton having qualified ACA in October 2020."
I am currently training at Langtons Chartered Accountants in the Audit and Accounts department. I secured my current position by getting to know other trainees studying the ACA at the same time as me. By joining LCASA I wanted to expand my network of connections whilst also encouraging others to do the same, as I know first-hand how beneficial it can be."
I have been a part of LCASA since October 2019, joining just after starting my role as an Audit Assistant at RSM in their Liverpool Office. I have overseen running the societies social media channels, as well as keeping meeting notes & general admin tasks. I have enjoyed the opportunity to expand my professional network and meet others from different practices in the area, as well as meet like-minded individuals who are also studying for the ACA qualification!"
