UK house prices fell by 0.1% year-on-year in September 2023, marking the first decline in over a decade, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The drop was attributed to higher mortgage rates impacting activity
in the housing market. The ONS data aligns with reports from mortgage lenders and property portal Rightmove, which have also indicated falling house prices. Simultaneously rental prices have been rising, with a 6.1% year-on-year increase in October 2023, driven by factors such as an influx of students and a lack of rental supply.
