Be our voice

Join your local ICAEW network board

ICAEW’s network boards extend across the UK, including Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and serve as a voice for ICAEW members at a local level. They act as a crucial platform for communication, collaboration, and consultation, and connecting ICAEW and its members with regional insights and perspectives.

The network boards play a key role in informing ICAEW’s local strategy by providing invaluable perspectives on local needs, trends, and the evolving economic landscape. Volunteers are appointed from the areas in which they work and advise, ensuring their knowledge and influence has the greatest impact. Our boards are selected to be representative of the local membership; bringing in-depth insights into their specialist fields and the sectors driving the local economy, to identify challenges and opportunities in the evolving profession and business environment.

What does the role of network board member involve?

As a network board member, you’ll work closely with ICAEW’s Regional/National Director and team to bring your expertise, local knowledge, and connections to:

  1. Voice local members’ views, on key topics, specialist fields, and sectors
  2. Contribute to consultations at the national, regional, and local levels, impacting ICAEW members and the organisations in which they work and advise
  3. Provide valuable market insights, helping to identify regional priorities, growth opportunities, and initiatives that support local members.
  1. Leverage your networks to raise the profile of ICAEW members, promoting their contributions to the region’s economic and professional communities
  2. Advocate for ICAEW, its members and the wider chartered accountancy profession.
After 12 months, there’s an opportunity to apply for leadership roles, such as Chair or Deputy Chair.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering with ICAEW as part of the network board offers personal and professional benefits, extending well beyond the impact you’ll have on the local membership and the profession:

  1. Expand your network by connecting with other ICAEW members from diverse backgrounds, fields and sectors.
  2. Enhance your professional visibility to progress your own career path and open the door to new opportunities.
  1. Develop new skills through hands-on experience, training, and leadership opportunities, in areas such as chairing and effective leadership.
  2. Access exclusive volunteer training, designed to boost your professional development with highly transferable skills.
