Biography

Mr Alan Bromhead FCA EPAAA BA

Principal, A A Bromhead & Co

Alan played a pivotal role in raising over 1 million birr for relief supplies to flood relief victims in 2006-2007 and provided school books to a number of schools in Ethiopia, as well as funding school furniture and a library for the children of a school in Saba Senbet and drilling a water well to provide running water for the whole town and surrounding villages.

He also established and part sponsors a fund for poorer female students of Addis Ababa University as well as personally supporting Ethiopians at Jimma and Arba Minch Universities and Unity College in Addis Ababa to graduate with degrees.

He is the former Chairman of the British Community in Ethiopia and has been a member of its Board for nearly thirty years - responsible for assisting various charities and providing the firm's services for free by acting as Honorary Auditors to such Non Government Organisation charities such as The Cheshire Homes, SOS Enfants Ethiopie, Alemachen CongregatioMissionis and Compassion International operating to help children in Ethiopia

He has also encouraged investment in Ethiopia and boosted financial intelligence by privately compiling and issuing the early "Businessman's Guide to Ethiopia" during 1992 - 1998. This has resulted in foreign investment in Ethiopia and created the need for more qualified personnel in the financial sector.

He also upheld and set and example of the standards of the profession defending it against abuse e.g. in the case of the Awash Bank when members of the Board (G8) took action to prevent the rights of shareholders being exercised.

Alan is a founder member and Past President of Rotary Club: Addis Ababa West.
