Biography

Stephen is Partner-in-charge of PricewaterhouseCoopers Lae office, having previously been an assurance and advisory partner in Port Moresby. He has over 30 years of experience in the fields of assurance, business advice and corporate reporting, including 23 years in Papua New Guinea.

Stephen started as a junior auditor in London for five years. However shortly after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he left England and came to PNG as an audit supervisor with Coopers & Lybrand in Arawa, Bougainville. After four years he left Bougainville and returned to England, joining a small firm as a general practice partner. However he maintained contact with PNG, and after three years, he returned back to PNG as an audit manager with C&L, now PwC, in Port Moresby, where he stayed for 11 years, being made an assurance partner in 1996. He transferred to manage the Lae office in June 2004. His clients include many of the largest groups in the country, for whom he provides assurance, tax, business advisory and corporate governance services.

Stephen has been heavily involved with the CPA PNG, having served as a council member for seven years, being a past Vice-President, and Chairman of both the Standards and the Conference & CPE Committees. He is a regular presenter at CPE sessions and conferences.

Stephen is married with two children and enjoys golf, tennis and travelling.
