John was born and raised in Liverpool. Immediately upon qualifying he joined a global packaging company, Metal Box Ltd., which he served in a succession of differing roles in various parts of the UK. After a sabbatical, John co-founded a music television production company. Clients included Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Bob Marley. The company grew rapidly requiring shooting all over the world, based from offices in London, New York and Los Angeles. His music videos’ many special visual effects lead John to a position as Head of Production for George Lucas’s, world famous, Industrial Light & Magic.

John’s experience producing visual effects for major motion pictures enabled him to launch a consulting career, advising the Hollywood production and post production community, film producers and film studios. He focused on the strategic, business, and financial challenges and opportunities during the industry’s transition from traditional film techniques into the digital domain.

John also advised beyond show business. His expertise expanded to include the use of insurance strategies as financial and business planning tools to his client base in other industries and services.

John serves on several boards including: The Association of Chartered Accountants in the United States (ACAUS); The British American Business Council; and Streetlights, a charity that trains minority, disadvantaged young people to work behind the camera, in movies, television production and commercials.

In 2003 John founded the Southern California Chapter of ACAUS and currently serves as its President.

John is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, daughter, three cats and a dog.
