The latest national Business Confidence Monitor (BCM) for Q1 2024 shows a significant improvement in sentiment compared to weak yet positive confidence in the previous quarter and the average for 2023. The index rose above its pre-pandemic average for the first time since Q1 2022, as economic prospects brightened.
Chris Brown has been elected president of ICAEW Lancashire and South Lakeland at the recent AGM. He takes the reins from past president Shru Morris, who led during 2021-2022. Chris is Managing Director at Brown & Co.
The North West Society of Chartered Accountants was formed in 1965, having previously been the North Lancashire Branch of the Manchester Society of Chartered Accountants. The society supports over 1,760 members in the Lancashire & South Lakeland area. In March 2017 the society changed its name to 'ICAEW Chartered Accountants Lancashire and South Lakeland’ and while the name has changed, the aims of the society remain the same and we continue to strive to improve on what was started 50 years ago.
ICAEW Chartered Accountants Lancashire & South Lakeland plays a key role in the training and development of chartered accountants, offering excellent technical and soft skills courses.
We have strong links with other professional organisations in the area. We also act as a link between ICAEW in Moorgate Place and members in the district. We are always keen to hear from members who wish to become more involved with our work.
The society is made up of Office Holders: a President, supported by a Deputy President, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary and other members of the main committee. The Office Holders and members of the committee are ICAEW members who undertake their role in a voluntary capacity to support their membership body.
NWCASS (North West Chartered Accountants Students’ Society) is the official body that represents ACA students under ICAEW training contracts in the area. NWCASS provides support and organises events (from social and networking events to soft skills seminars as well as career development events), not only to students but also supports recently-qualified ICAEW chartered accountants in the area. NWCASS’s mission is to provide a network, support and voice for its members and a source of enthusiasm for the accountancy profession throughout a member’s career.
NWCASS has a full programme of events and activities and welcomes new members. For further information please contact clare.parisi@icaew.com
