By 5 February, HMRC expects to rollout changes to the agent services account (ASA) homepage to make it easier for agents to find the available services. These include:
- Making Tax Digital (MTD) services
- Agent authorisation for MTD
- Registration of trusts and estates
- Capital gains tax on UK residential property
Services including self assessment, corporation tax and employers PAYE remain available through the “old” agent portal.
The changes are cosmetic, no new services have been added or moved to the ASA, but they should help with navigation.
HMRC has provided a slidedeck which illustrates the changes which include a prominent client authorisation section at the top of the page with tax services listed beneath.
The Tax Faculty continues to engage with HMRC on improving the functionality of the ASA and is aware that agents are sometimes unable to update certain details, such as the email and physical addresses for their firm. Please send feedback on the ASA to caroline.miskin@icaew.com.
