Highlights from the broader tax news for the week ending 12 October 2022, including: updated corporation tax return guidance; and Scottish Budget date.

HMRC updates guidance on corporation tax return form completion

HMRC has updated its guidance on completing a corporation tax return and its various supplementary pages. This includes CT600M (Freeports) which has been added to the suite of pages for the first time from 2022. The guidance published on 30 September is spread over 14 webpages and can be found here.

Scottish Budget date announced

The 2023-24 Scottish Budget will be published on 15 December 2022. The Scottish Budget will set out the Government’s proposals for 2023-24 for devolved income tax rates and bands, land and buildings transaction tax, and Scottish landfill tax alongside the Scottish Government’s spending plans for the next financial year.
