Payroll and rewards updates from ICAEW

Author: ICAEW Insights

Published: 15 Apr 2024

ICAEW’s Tax Faculty has published a TAXguide on PAYE rates, thresholds and allowances, and produced a webinar on recent changes in employment taxes and related areas.

The Tax Faculty’s latest webinar is available to watch on demand. The webinar gives an update on recent and forthcoming changes to payroll, rewards and employment taxes in 2024/25. The subjects covered include:

  • tax changes announced at the Spring Budget 2024;
  • employment and pension law changes relevant to payroll and reward; and
  • the mandatory payrolling of benefits-in-kind from April 2026.

The webinar was presented by Ian Holloway and Peter Bickley, Technical Manager, Employment Taxes and NICs, ICAEW.

Ahead of the webinar, the Tax Faculty published TAXguide 3/24. Compiled by Ian Holloway as part of the webinar’s resources, it is a useful guide to PAYE rates, thresholds and allowances for employers in 2024/25. It covers:

  • income tax;
  • national insurance contributions (NIC);
  • reliefs;
  • levies;
  • statutory payments;
  • pensions;
  • student loans;
  • national minimum wage rates; and
  • car, van and fuel benefits-in-kind.

The equivalent guidance for 2023/24 is available as TAXguide 1/23.

Viewing the webinar could contribute up to one hour of verifiable continuing professional development (CPD) for an ICAEW member where it is relevant to their role. More time can be added where the member uses the TAXguide. See this article for further information on how content published by the Tax Faculty can help members meet their CPD requirements.
