Many companies are due to file accounts with Companies House before the end of September. Companies House has launched a directors’ responsibilities campaign, which aims to raise awareness and highlight the importance of filing on time. It also promotes tools and digital services to help businesses remain compliant.
The campaign targets new and existing directors, with the aim of helping them to understand what their filing responsibilities are to Companies House and why it’s important to remain compliant.
“An understanding of the consequences of not filing accounts on time is essential for company directors,” says Sally Baker, ICAEW’s Head of Corporate Reporting Policy. “Consequences range from fines through to disqualification from being a company director. There’s also a potential impact on the company’s ability to raise finance and enter into transactions. ICAEW welcomes this educational initiative from Companies House.”
Companies House is running two webinars in September as part of its campaign. The first, on 7 September, featured an overview of directors’ responsibilities. The second, on 21 September, will focus on how to use the Business Support Helpline. Alongside this, the campaign features advice articles and videos that explain how directors can ensure they remain compliant.
