David Franklin, ICAEW’s Managing Director of Belonging and Supporting, is joining ICAEW’s executive as Chief Financial Officer.

ICAEW has confirmed David Franklin as its new CFO. David has played a key role in developing ICAEW’s member offering since he joined ICAEW in 2015 and has been Acting CFO since September 2022.

ICAEW’s Chief Executive, Michael Izza, said: “Following a rigorous interview process involving ICAEW Council and Board members, I am delighted to announce the appointment of David as our new CFO.

“David has already achieved a great deal during his time at ICAEW and following a successful spell as Acting CFO can already boast a deep understanding of the job and the crucial role our members play in supporting businesses and economies around the world.

“I would like to congratulate David and wish him continued success within ICAEW and all the very best in his new role.”

Responding to his appointment, David said: “It’s an honour to be appointed as ICAEW’s CFO. It’s an exciting time for both the organisation and the profession and I look forward to continuing to work alongside colleagues and our volunteers as we focus on delivering our strategy.”

David qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant at PwC, where he worked in audit before specialising in business valuations.

He joined ICAEW as Head of Members and Commercial, leading the organisations’ efforts to support members, as well as its commercial activities.

In 2017 he was promoted to Director and in 2021 to Managing Director of Belonging and Supporting.

As CFO, David will be responsible for ICAEW’s Finance and Central Operations teams. He joins Michael Izza and Chief Operating Officer, Sharron Gunn, as the executive representatives on ICAEW’s Board.

Away from ICAEW, David is also on the board of National Prison Radio and has been a business mentor at the Prince’s Trust.
