The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) are seeking applicants for board positions. The two bodies are looking for people with the skills and experience to complete ongoing projects and deliver on their 2024-2027 strategy.
The IAASB has up to seven vacancies in its current cycle, including potential re-appointments of four members, effective from 1 January 2025. Two vacancies are for practitioners and up to five vacancies are for non-practitioners.
The organisation is looking for practitioners with experience in sustainability matters. Deep data and technology expertise, including designing and performing audit procedures with technology-assisted analysis of information, will be especially welcome.
It also wants Individuals with experience in sustainability matters, and data and technology expertise – specifically, technology-assisted analysis of information within three backgrounds:
- national or international standard-setting, policy and regulatory experience of setting, implementing and enforcing audit and assurance standards;
- investment firms or representing investor views or needs; and
- corporate preparers, directors and audit committee members.
At IESBA, there are six vacancies, including potential re-appointments of five members, effective from 1 January 2025. Three vacancies are for practitioners and three for individuals.
Practitioners need relevant experience in ethics and independence matters, firm governance and culture, with a preference for small and medium-sized practice experience.
IESBA also seeks individuals with experience as preparers or users of financial and sustainability reporting, who are able to provide input on widening the scope of the Code of Ethics. Alternatively, candidates could have experience of governance and culture in the corporate or public sphere; the organisation is particularly looking for experience of professional service providers. Finally, individuals could have national standard-setting, policy and regulatory experience of setting ethical standards.
Deadlines for all applications are 9 February 2024. If you would like to find out more, please contact sarah.prescott@icaew.com
