Offering up to three hours of verifiable continuing professional development (CPD), ICAEW’s Virtual CPD Conference on 2 July is the first of its kind.
Designed specifically to support ICAEW members with meeting their CPD requirements, the online event is free to attend and comprises six short sessions offering updates in key areas, as well as an update on CPD from ICAEW.
The morning kicks off with a session on the latest tax developments from Sharon Cooke, Accountancy Technical and Training Consultant at 2020 Innovation, followed by a legal update covering changes in employment, company law and data protection.
Later in the event, ICAEW Technical Manager Laura Woods and Helen Kerrigan, Director, Future Finance Training will offer insights into what’s happening in the corporate reporting space, covering both UK GAAP and IFRS.
Then there are practical sessions offering: support on how to ensure good corporate governance, top tips on improving communication skills, and advice on how to use artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline processes and provide real-time data analysis. The AI session will also touch on the challenges and risks for accountants.
The idea behind the event is to offer members a great way to stay up to date on a range of subjects in a way that suits them, explains Andrea Cook, ICAEW’s Director of Specialised and Lifelong Learning.
“We understand that our members want to keep abreast of a wide range of subjects in a time-effective way,” she said. “We’ve worked hard to create a programme that will provide key technical updates and practical support for your day-to-day work.”
Each session will signpost additional ICAEW resources for members who want to find out more about the topics discussed.
As well as hosting the conference virtually to make it accessible for the whole membership, the sessions will also be available on demand afterwards.
