Setting up training agreements
At the start of training, you will need to sign a training agreement with your student. This is a signed document that is specific to ACA training. It is not the same as an employment contract.
If any changes need to be made to a training agreement throughout the period of training, it is your responsibility to notify us immediately by completing the amendments to a training agreement form.
Re-registering students
If your student is new to ACA training, it is their responsibility to register as a student with us. If a student joins your organisation part-way through their ACA training from another organisation, you will need to re-register them.
Paying for student fees
Fees relating to ACA training include student registration, tuition, exam registration, credit for prior learning and learning materials. Some fees are payable directly to ICAEW while others are payable to your chosen tuition provider.
Six-monthly reviews
Regular reviews and feedback on progress with your students are a mandatory requirement of ACA training. These must take place at least every six months throughout a training agreement. The purpose of six-monthly reviews is to discuss their progress with all elements of the ACA and study plans. This helps you monitor their progress, provide additional assistance or development plans where necessary and ensure that your student is on track to qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
Conducting a final sign off
At the end of a student’s training agreement, you will be required to complete a final sign-off. This declares that a student has satisfied all elements of the ACA and that they are fit and proper for ICAEW membership.
