Accountancy student hired after handing out CV at stations

A 21-year-old accountancy and finance student has landed a job after handing out his CV outside two London train stations.

Kamran Hussain, a student at the University of Kent, woke up at 5:30am last Tuesday and headed to Liverpool Street station with 35 copies of his CV.

He handed out almost all the printed copies at Liverpool Street and then Cannon Street Station, and started receiving calls for job interviews straight after.

He was called for an interview at a marketing company on Wednesday and has since then accepted a job offer.

“My gamble paid off,” the young accountant told Metro. “It almost makes me want to cry, I’ve been given a chance. It’s been the best experience of my life, this company has now given me my break and I couldn’t be more thankful.

“I decided that if I was going to have a chance of finding something, I would have to go and stand on the street and hand out my CV to people who were interested.”

Hussain left university with a third-class degree and had applied for more than 100 jobs online without any luck.

He said, “I 110% recommend anyone coming out of university who might have received a lower grade because they’re having a hard time, or whatever reason, tries this. Try something innovative. ‘I knew I had to up my game to succeed against first-class graduates.”

The accountant told the newspaper that since handing out his CVs he has received around 20 responses from recruiters.
