The ICAEW Guide to Successful Job Search Episode 1: Getting started
In the first podcast of The ICAEW Guide to Successful Job Search series, host Simon Gray, FCA, outlines the four crucial elements to securing your dream finance job: environment; psychology; planning and process.
To create the ICAEW Guide to Successful Job Search, ICAEW worked with Simon Gray, author of ‘Super Secrets of Successful Executive Job Search’ and founder of Career Codex, in addition to experts from across the recruitment and business world to share their knowledge of how to find and secure the job you want.
In Episode 1, ‘Getting started on your successful job search’, Gray introduces the series and outlines his approach to finding success in the job market.
- Environment – how the job market really works and how to use this knowledge to your advantage.
- Psychology – how what you believe influences your thoughts and ultimately the action you’re prepared to take.
- Planning – we plan in business, but often forget to do this when it comes to our own career.
- Process – all the things people usually associate with a successful job search, including CV construction, interview technique, networking and offer negotiation, but approached in a unique and more effective way.
Alongside providing an overview of the tools you will gain throughout the series, in this first podcast Gray also introduces himself and his guests on the series:
- Sally Adams, Acting Chief Financial Officer at Electrocomponents Plc;
- Andrew Clark, Finance Director at Costa Enterprises; and
- Jonathan Firth, Managing Director Michael Page Finance.
