Life membership allows you, as a retired professional, to retain the benefits of ICAEW membership, including retaining your ACA status, for a single-one off payment.

Are you eligible?

One-off payment

Are you (as at 1 January):

  • fully retired (no renumerated activity)? AND
  • have been an ICAEW member for 25 years or more? AND
  • 55 or older?

If yes, you may be eligible to become a life member.

Life membership will be granted provided that you have retired from all remunerated business and professional activities and that you have surrendered your practising certificate.

If you meet the eligibility requirements you can pay a one-off fee of £690 (just 1.5 times the standard annual subscription) to become an ICAEW life member. 

Free life membership

Are you (as at 1 January):

  • fully retired (no renumerated activity)? AND either
  • aged 75 or older OR
  • have held membership for 50 years

If yes, apply for free membership when you renew your membership.

Members aged 90 and over are now automatically granted free life membership. Any Practising Certificate, Practice Assurance, faculty and Community fees and subscriptions shall also be waived.

If you are unable to work due to an incurable and or progressive illness you may also be eligible for free life membership. Please contact the Members Information Team to enable them to assess your circumstances and provide support to you and your family.
