At Bupa, we understand that when life’s non-stop, taking time out for a health issue might not feel like an option. That's why we offer fast access to our services as soon as you're with us. From diagnosis to treatment and ongoing support, we'll get you back to work and feeling like yourself again, as quickly as we can.

Why Private health Insurance?

  • Access to private hospitals and consultants
  • Fast access to treatment and specialist support
  • Access to eligible breakthrough cancer drugs and treatments often before they are available on the NHS or approved by NICE (as long as they’re evidence-based)

Why Bupa?

Our range of cover options allows you to adapt aspects of your health insurance to suit your needs. From day one, all this help is there for you:

  • Direct Access can help you get referred to a specialist, usually without the need for a GP referral†.
  • Talk to our nurses, 24/7 – Call our Anytime HealthLine for help with any health worries or niggles, any time of the day or night.
  • Family Mental HealthLine - Get clear advice on how to help your child if you think they're struggling emotionally.
  • Book digital GP appointments – Our digital GP service lets you talk to an online doctor by video or phone call – appointments are usually available within 24 hours, and typically take place between 8am and 10pm. ‡
  • 10% discount on Bupa By You*
  • Family discounts - As well as the 10% ICAEW saving, members can also save 10% on a family policy§. And now, you can cover all your children, for the price of one, when you pay for your eldest child.
  • A little something to smile about – Bupa's dental allowance gives everyone on your cover an appointment at a Bupa Dental Care practice every policy year, it can be used for a new patient examination, a routine check up or an emergency appointment. Plus, if you need further care, you each get a £300 allowance towards restorative treatment, like crowns and fillings. For FAQs, please see 'Dental Allowance: Frequently Asked Questions'.

†Direct Access telephone services are available as long as the symptoms are covered under the policy. If your cover excludes conditions you had before your policy started, we’ll ask you to provide evidence from your GP that your symptoms are not pre-existing for a period of up to two years from policy start date (or five years in the case of mental health) before we can refer you to a consultant or therapist through the Direct Access service. For rolling moratorium underwritten members we will ask for evidence each time you claim for a condition not claimed for before. Always call us first to check your eligibility. Your out-patient allowance will be used to fund treatment after your direct telephone consultation.
