Join ICAEW’s Legal Services Reference Group

Published: 12 Aug 2024

The Regulatory Policy team for the ICAEW Professional Standards Department is creating a reference group for legal services. We welcome expressions of interest from ICAEW accredited legal service practitioners.

The Regulatory Policy team are inviting ICAEW accredited legal service practitioners to join a reference group to help shape our regulatory policies and regulatory support for legal services.

We’re establishing this reference group as a forum for ICAEW to share regulatory developments with legal service practitioners and to collect views from firms on areas relevant to probate work and legal services.

The benefits of joining

By joining our group, you would have an opportunity to:

  • influence regulatory policy development;
  • review and comment on draft guidance, policy documents and similar;
  • be informed about upcoming changes, draft policies and guidelines, HMCTS practitioner meetings or probate surgeries; and
  • share feedback about HMCTS and probate applications.

What engagement with the group will look like

The group will liaise primarily through online channels, such as email, surveys and polls and as appropriate, virtual meetings to ensure that participation is manageable, convenient and accessible.

How much time you will need to commit

Your membership in the group should not take up a great deal of time. The frequency of activities will generally be determined by the specific topic but as a guide, you can expect the time commitment to be generally no more than one hour per month.

How many firms can join the group

Membership will be limited to a maximum of 20 firm representatives. If demand for spaces is greater than this, we may offer membership on a rotational basis or alternatively consider other ways that you can get involved.
