Studying the ACA after university
The most established route to qualifying as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant in the UK is to study the ACA qualification after completing an undergraduate degree. You don’t have to study accountancy, business or finance at university to start the ACA, because companies offering ACA training agreements are interested in graduates from a range of backgrounds.
You do not need to have studied accountancy at university before you start your ACA training. We have students from all backgrounds, these include science and engineering to arts and humanities. Students who have studied a finance or accountancy related degree may be eligible for credits for prior learning.
Some universities have agreements with ICAEW so that you can start training your ACA while at your chosen university. Read more about affiliate degrees here.
