The Audit & Assurance Conference 2024 will focus on the expanding and fast-changing landscape of sustainability assurance. The event on 10 June at Chartered Accountants’ Hall will bring together a range of experts on the growing prospects and challenges facing preparers and assurance providers.

Speakers will share a range of perspectives on the importance of sustainability assurance, an overview of current and evolving regulatory landscape, and offer practical advice on how to prepare for and deliver sustainability assurance. There will be opportunities to network and log verifiable hours towards CPD requirements.

The faculty also invites you to complete a five-minute online survey on sustainability assurance. Your input will help to inform our response to a Financial Reporting Council (FRC) study looking at the UK market for sustainable assurance services.

Be among the first to participate in an ICAEW initiative, to boost skills and develop your career, with a new online learning tool for auditors on professional judgement.

The online tool is based on a practical research-based model to improve professional judgements, will be freely available to ICSEW members and will qualify as verifiable CPD.

PII requirements are changing

On 1 September 2024, ICAEW’s Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) requirements will change, following a consultation and feedback.

Recent additions to theAudit and Assurance Faculty webinar library include:

• making sense of sampling and substantive analytical review;
• reminders and pointers on ISA 315; and 
• what’s changing in group audits during 2024.

CASS audits in 2024 were the subject of a recent Financial Services Faculty webinar. A recording is available, outlining the regulatory landscape, scoping, testing, quality control and reporting.

Technical updates

The International Audit and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) has released new resources, including a video series and global webinar, to support understanding of the new International Standard on Auditing for Less Complex Entities (ISA for LCE).

Other recent output from the IAASB includes:

a video series exploring proposed changes to the fraud ISA; and 

IAASB’s strategy and workplan for 2024-2027.
