Every charity will require a finance function whether it be a volunteer, outsourced or an in-house team. If you were to grade your finance function on a scale from poor to great, where would it sit? The question may be difficult to answer without determining what ‘Great’ looks like.
We are putting together an ICAEW thought leadership publication to determine how to build a great finance function in your charity. We are looking for a group of volunteers from across the sector to join the Steering Group over the next eighteen months to help us define great and review publication drafts. About one day of commitment is required that will be spread over the publication timetable.
We already have a number of people from practice, Directors of Finance and Honorary Treasurers. However, we are keen to broaden the representation from Trustees (both Financial and Non-financial) as well as Financial Directors from a broader range of charity sizes. If you would be interested in finding out more and joining the team, we would be delighted to hear from you by Friday, 15 July 2022.
Please send an email to Kristina Kopic (Kristina.Kopic@icaew.com), Head of Charity and Voluntary Sector at ICAEW, in the first instance, with a paragraph (up to 250 words) about your charity and your role.
Please tell us:
- What is your role within the charity?
- What cause area does your charity serve? For example, Education, Health, Environment, Animal, Arts, Community, Research, Religion…?
- What is your charity’s business model? For example, service provider, asset management, memberships, government contracts, grant givers, branches and federations…?
- Is your charity small (gross income under £1m), medium (£1m-10m), or large (over £10m)?
- Does your charity have a paid finance team? If so, approximately how many (full time equivalent) employees work within the finance function?
- Is your charity’s reach local, national or international?
We look forward to hearing from you!
