My name is Ros Rowe and I am the Chair of the Community Advisory Group. The ICAEW Construction & Real Estate Community represents members across all areas of construction & real estate businesses as well as advisers, practices and independent consultants. It provides a forum to inform, share and educate members about topical issues which affect the industry, drawing on both the practical experience and technical knowledge of industry experts. Briefings are provided through the website and newsletters plus we provide training currently (since Covid-19) via webinars.
You may have seen our re-vamped website. We share news and topics of interest to accountants as well as store previous newsletters, and webinars. So far this year, the Community has recorded 3 webinars – see below. If you missed any of the live dates I would recommend taking a look at the recorded version.
There are two webinars scheduled for this year:-
- 28 September 2020 - Covid-19 & Managing Uncertainty in Construction: Dealing with contract and commercial risk and supply chain insolvency (link to booking page). Please join and pose your own questions to our speakers.
- 5 November 2020 - we will be joined by Mark Farmer, Founding Director & CEO at Cast when we will take a closer look at the housing sector. Watch this space for more information!

We also provide a voice to Government about current matters. Since the pandemic started, ICAEW has been sharing our Community’s feedback – both concerns and proposed solutions – to Business, Energy & Industry Strategy (BEIS) and other Government departments. We recently formed the Advisory Group to continue to provide insight to Government and to offer guidance on matters where members would benefit from information and training.
