Acquisitions are a key part of corporate strategy for businesses entering a new market, adding new products or technologies, or gaining or building scale or resilience in testing times. In our annual review, we look at the UK companies most active in M&A.

COVID-19 hasn’t stopped the consolidators doing what they do best. Mid-market M&A, dominated by private equity-backed businesses, has been keeping itself busy through the pandemic. 

Independent Vetcare (IVC) again tops our list for the number of deals completed, as the Bristol-based pet and animal care provider trotted through an average of seven acquisitions a month in 2020.
