TAXline News: January 2020
Frank Haskew, Head of the Tax Faculty, reports on recent developments at the Tax Faculty during January 2020.
We are sorry to report that two longserving members of our staff retired at the end of 2019: operations manager Chrissie O’Connor and technical manager Sue Moore. Chrissie had been with the Tax Faculty since 2002 and for many members will be remembered as the voice of the Tax Faculty and ICAEW. This was literally true, because if you listened to any of ICAEW’s prerecorded messages for times when we weren’t available, I can now reveal they were, and indeed will likely still be for years to come, voiced by Chrissie. She was always an inspiration and we will miss her greatly – she kept the Tax Faculty ship afloat and steering in the right direction even in the roughest of seas! We wish her well in the future and expect her to be very busy with her acting and stage director work, along with her love of horse riding. Sue joined the Tax Faculty as our private client manager in 2012.
Under her wing, the committee flourished, and she was known and admired by all for her considerable technical skills, allied with a practical knowledge borne of her experience running her own practice alongside her work as a technical manager. If Sue didn’t know the answer, it probably wasn’t worth asking the question! In her time with us, she also proved herself to be an excellent writer and produced an abundance of great content for the Tax Faculty, which was much appreciated by grateful members. We will miss her cheerful presence and wish her all the best in retirement.
