Finance Bill of Spring 2005 (TAXREP 15/05)
On 1 April 2005 ICAEW issued a press release calling on the Government 'to defer passing complicated and controversial elements of the Finance Bill until after the general election'. The Text of the letter sent in March 2005 to the Paymaster General by the Tax Faculty (ICAEW) was published as the Technical Release.
TAXline
The ICAEW Tax Faculty published its views on the bill in the TAXline weekly news update No 249 on 27th March 2005. The update includes the Faculty's concerns about the degree of scrutiny the bill will receive with a general election looming and sets out their intention to write to 'the Government, the Opposition parties and members of last year's Standing Committee urging them not to seek to pass all the provisions in the published Bill before Parliament is dissolved'.
